Most people are quite good about brushing their teeth at least twice a day, but many people have trouble sticking with flossing. Replace Your Toothbrush

Do you know how often you should be replacing your toothbrush? Your toothbrush should be used twice a day, every day, resulting in wear and tear that needs to be replaced regularly. As a general rule, you should use a new toothbrush every 3-4 months. However, if the bristles are frayed, that’s a sign you need to throw away the toothbrush and buy another. If you are sick with the cold or flu, you’ll also want to replace the brush when you get better to reduce the spread of germs.

Healthier Food And Drinks

While brushing and flossing are essential steps to proper oral care, the food and drinks you consume also affect your teeth. For example, frequent consumption of sugary snacks and carbonated drinks contributes to tooth decay, so make a resolution to cut back on soda and candy this year. Other food and drinks that cause problems for your mouth include bread, alcohol, citrus, and potato chips. This doesn’t mean you can’t eat or drinks these options again, but be mindful of how often you consume them, and be sure to brush and floss after snacking. Also, using a Xylitol-containing gum or lozenge after eating will help neutralize acids and bacteria that cause cavities.
