Teeth Whitening Services in Maryland

Do you dread smiling because your teeth are less than pearly white? There’s a solution. Teeth whitening can help improve your smile so you don’t feel ashamed to smile when you want to smile. When smiling, you will find out people respond positively to happy people, smiling people. Teeth whitening can open great opportunities for you — whether it be for a job interview, meeting someone new to date or greeting old friend. Teeth whitening is an affordable and effective way to make you feel more confident in your smile and all it takes is a visit to the dentist to have the cosmetic procedure and experience immediate results. It is safe and you won’t experience any pain during the procedure.

You should know there are many reasons teeth become stained and everyone experiences it. Some common reasons people experience staining are aging, eating colored foods, smoking, poor dental hygiene and drinking coffee, tea and other sugar drinks. Or it can happen simply from injury or be hereditary.

During the tooth whitening procedure, the dentist will apply a whitening gel to your teeth to whiten the teeth. There are so many affordable ways to whiten the teeth with cosmetic dentistry services. Keep in mind teeth whitening is not designed for cleaning the teeth. You will still have to be proactive with your daily oral hygiene— brushing at least twice a day and not forgetting to floss and use antispetic mouthwash. Professional Teeth Whitening Myths Debunked

Friday, July 25th, 2014

professional teeth whiteningWe’re rolling into one of the most popular months for weddings in the United States and with weddings come lots of pictures. Do you avoid smiling with your teeth every chance you get in those pictures? Are you worried because your teeth are yellowing or just aren’t as white as you’d like them to be? In that case, you should consider having your teeth professionally whitened by your Catonsville dentist. You might be worried that having your teeth whitened can in some way harm them or cause more problems. Believe it or not, most of the issues that you’ve probably heard involving having your teeth professionally whitened are myths.

Which Problems are Just Myths?

  • I can get oral cancer from having my teeth professionally whitened. This is entirely false. Studies have shown that there is no way that having your teeth whitened can cause cancer. In fact, one of the main ingredients used in teeth whitening is hydrogen peroxide, which you’ve probably used on a regular basis anyway. Your teeth and gums may be a little sensitive after you’ve had them whitened from these chemicals, but they are in no way going to cause you oral cancer.
  • Teeth whitening will damage my enamel and make me more susceptible to cavities. This is also not true. All that teeth whitening is going to do is change the color of your teeth. It doesn’t wear down the enamel or make you susceptible to mouth diseases. In fact, having your teeth whitened can help you boost your oral health. How, you ask? Most people want to keep their teeth white and shiny once they’ve paid to have them professionally whitened. The best way to do that is to take good care of them!
  • Teeth whitening hurts and isn’t worth the pain. Having your teeth whitened isn’t painful, especially if you have it done by the proper professionals. If you know that you have sensitive teeth and gums, you should expect that the treatment may be a little uncomfortable for 24-48 hours afterwards, but it won’t be an awful pain. It’s more likely to just be slightly tender. Avoid eating anything really hot or cold during this time and brush with a toothpaste made for sensitive teeth.
